Master Sommelier Jacques Cariot, owner of Bleu Provence Restaurant, led us through a dégustation of five red French wines at Bleu Cellar on April 19, 2012. A plate of French hors d’oeuvere was served. Bill and Julia Bugera were our hosts.

March 2012 – Assemblée Générale

The Annual General Meeting (Assemblée Générale) was held on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Brio’s Tuscan Grill at the Waterside Shops in Naples. The election for President was held, and Denyse Jenkins was re-elected for a 19th term.
Elections were held for two positions on the Board of Directors, and Carla Boggess and Angela Herrington were elected.
Dr. Hormoz and Evelyn Minoui were awarded 2011 Volunteer of the Year.

Our 19th Annual Fashion Show and Fund Raiser was held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at The Club Pelican Bay, Naples.
This year’s theme was “Cherchez la Femme.”
Fashions were provided by Pretty Woman in North Naples.
Hair by Anita & Erick at Tory’s Hair Salon.

Our annual “Bal Masqué du Mardi Gras” was held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at The Club Pelican Bay. This year’s theme was “An American in Paris.”

The first event of 2012 was our Causerie/Luncheon, which was held at The Club at The Strand on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. The speaker was Alliance Française de Naples new member Nicholas Hayes, who shared his experiences in making ”Le pèlerinage de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle” in Spain (the third most important pilgrimage site after Jerusalem and Rome).

Our annual Christmas Gala was held on Friday, December 2, 2011, at Club Pelican Bay, where we enjoyed an elegant, 4-course gourmet dinner, with dancing and music by Hot Topic.

November 2011 – Ciné Club

Our third Ciné Club of the year was held on November 3, 2011, at the Party Room of Corinne Youngling in Pelican Bay. Twelve members and guests viewed “La Princesse de Montpensier,” a French film released in 2010, starring Mélanie Thierry, Lambert Wilson, Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet, Gaspard Ulliel, Raphaël Personnaz, Anatole de Bodinat, Eric Rulliat, Samuel Theis, Philippe Magnan. The members shared a brief discussion after the film.

We celebrated Bastille Day (“La Célébration du 14 juillet pour fêter la Fête Nationale“) on Thursday, July 14, 2011, with dinner at Bamboo Café and a cruise in Naples Bay & on the Gulf of Mexico on ”Sweet Liberty.”
